I came to Bentota looking for adventure and left with so much more. The watersports scene here is incredible — easily the best I have experienced anywhere in Asia. But what surprised me most was how peaceful it felt away from the activity. An evening river cruise through the mangrove swamps as the sun went down was one of the most magical experiences of my entire trip. The local seafood restaurants along the beach were fantastic too. Bentota is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave.

We visited Bentota with our two young children and it was honestly the best family holiday we have ever had. The lagoon was calm and safe for the kids to splash around in, and they absolutely loved the turtle hatchery — it was both educational and magical for them. The resorts are well equipped for families and the staff everywhere were so warm and welcoming. The day trip to Galle Fort was a wonderful bonus. Bentota struck the perfect balance between fun, relaxation, and culture. We are already planning our return trip!
